Awareness campaign on Child Protection, Education and Health on covid-19 situation

On 29/ 10/ 2022, Swati Mondal (16yrs) of Gourdaha, one of the remotest villages of Gram Panchayat under Canning-II Block, class 10 student, is studying at Bhorihar Uccha Madhyamik.
One day her father decided to arrange her marriage. She strongly refused her father’s proposal. So, her father started misbehaves with her and threatened to stop her study if she would not consent with his proposal. Then Swati didn’t understand what she does as the barrier come from her own family. The situation became more critical. In this critical situation the girl informed the matter to adolescent group which was formed by the facilitation of CRSDF and also approached the VLCPC members to inform them that her parents had fixed her marriage. She also informed that when she opposed against the marriage, her parents physically abused her for two days.
All Adolescent group member and Swati requested the VLCPC members to stop the marriage. The VLCPC members took her to the police station at Ghutiary and informed the police about the incident. The police called the parents Nitin Mondal (father) and Sujata Mondal (mother) and warned them about marrying their daughter and also told them that strict will be taken against them for abusing the child. The parents asked for forgiveness. The VLCPC members have been told to follow-up and provide counselling to the family. Now Swati has been continuing her study.
